An idea becomes a reality
On the 19th. March 1998 “Osoo Ecotour” received its registration from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Justice and officially became a legal entity. Osoo is the equivalent of the British “ltd” or the American “llc.”
At this time businesses in Kyrgyzstan were starting to flourish. The country had survived the demons of perestroika and was beginning to develop. People were starting to come to terms with capitalism and the green shoots of entrepreneurship were surfacing.
Most of these new entrepreneurs were men. Women were still regarded as not being the best at running businesses, and this is despite 70 years of Soviet rule when almost all women worked in every sphere of life and at every level.
In Bishkek two young sisters took a good look at their country and felt that it should be introduced to the rest of the world, and that creating a travel company might be a good idea. Back in 1998 there was not a lot of competition.
